Fruits

Of course fruits will have low calories, you must be careful of which fruits you eat because some have more calories than others. Citrus fruits can irritate your stomach making it swell and in effect makes your stomach look bigger so steer clear of citrus fruits and your stomach will stay its original shape.

Fruit is a healthy choice when it comes to snacks because they are low in calories and chock full of vitamins that are essential to a healthy life style. Some people crave sweets; instead of eating a piece of chocolate have a banana or an apple with peanut butter on it.

Veggies

Vegetables also have low calories and are very good for you; leafy greens such as lettuce and cabbage are extremely healthy and are an important part of losing weight.

Packaged meals

Some diet companies have come out with “smart” meals that contain little calories and can help you lose weight. Eating these meals for dinner will help you stay healthy and fit and they taste great too. These meals are especially good for those that only have to feed themselves because the meal is only one serving. Of course if you have a family that wants to lose weight too they can also eat these delicious meals.

Packaged meals are not only dinners; they also have some deserts that contain chocolate and even ice cream. Just because you are on a diet doesn’t mean that you can’t eat great tasting foods.

Canned Soup

Soups are great low calories foods. Canned soup is a healthy lunch or dinner alternative because there are so many “healthy choice” soups available. They may be a little more costly but it is worth it because they are generally chunkier and definitely healthier. Check the label on regular soups and count the calories in that and keep an eye on the sodium.

Granola bars

Granola bars are a great breakfast because they are healthy and quick; you only need one bar to fill you up and they come in a variety of flavors that anyone would love. Some people even replace breakfast and lunch with these bars as a way to keep their calorie count down.

Popcorn

Popcorn is one of the healthiest snacks you can eat, not the packaged kind with gobs of butter, but the air popped kind without any butter or salt; this is actually a very tasty snack because of its natural flavor and texture, it makes you feel like you are eating junk food when you are actually eating a very low calorie snack. If you don’t like plain popcorn, add a little butter and salt but use only in moderation.

Reduced calorie snacks

Because dieting has become such a craze, there are more and more snack foods designed for dieters. Snacks like cookies and chips are conveniently placed in packages that only contain 100 calories. You don’t have to give up the foods you love just to lose weight.

There are many low calorie foods available so don’t think that just because you are dieting you have to suffer.
